Winchester engagement shoot with Lee and Anton

Lee and Anton got engaged this weekend and wanted some photos to mark the occasion - here's a couple full of fun and love for each other.

I joked last week that I should advertise the Burfield luck where the weather is concerned.  Well, I'm writing this on Sunday morning while we have wind, rain, thunder and after a great day shooting in Winchester yesterday with Lee and Anton for engagement photos.  The Burfield luck was working well yesterday!

We shot at St Catherine's Hill in Winchester where you've got the option of some riverside shooting as well.

Here's a gallery of a few of my favourites

Wedding of Clare and James at St Illtud's, Llantwit Major, Wales

A wedding in Wales in March is likely to be interesting weather-wise but we were incredibly lucky once again - showers and chilly much of the time but sunny and pleasant when it really mattered.  Perhaps I should advertise the Burfield luck when the weather is concerned!

After a very happy wedding of our good friends Clare and James at St Illtud's church in Llantwit Major we headed over to Rosedew Farm for a great reception.  Well, some of us did - most of the groomsmen headed to the pub which gave us some interesting logistical problems!  The reception was fabulous - I was fed very well indeed - and the evening reception saw everyone dancing to traditional Welsh music - a first for me and everyone had great fun!

Another wedding with a great fun feel to it and the first time I'd heard the great story of the mayonnaise jar - so true!

Wedding of Lucy & Andy at Southampton Register Office and The Navigator Swanwick

I'd shot some family portraits for Lucy and Andy earlier in the year at Netley Abbey and they'd booked me for their winter wedding on 20 December in Southampton.  It was an afternoon wedding and getting dark when we came out of the Register Office.  Luckily, it was a small gathering and Lucy and Andy wanted only a few formal shots meaning we had light enough to get them done in time before it became dark.

Andy is incredibly tall and Lucy, well there's no two ways about it, she just isn't!  Getting them both in frame was often a challenge - I spent a fair bit of time on my knees shooting upwards!

This was a wedding of two people who were very much in love - the wedding speeches were great with Andy's young son giving a speech far beyond his years.  Another great fun wedding to end 2013 wedding photography season for me.

A wedding guest book alternative - breaking with tradition...

It's great to have a memento from your reception with messages of love and friendship from your guests - the funny, the sincere, the meaningful - messages to look back on in future years and to reminisce to.

This shot was from a Southampton wedding with the reception after at The Navigator in Lower Swanwick.  The couple chose a shot from their engagement shoot (in fact a pre-wedding shoot for this couple) which I shot at Netley Abbey with the kind permission of English Heritage.

Imagine a great picture of you and your spouse that raises a smile each time it's looked at or commented on by friends.  Something I've done for a few of my wedding clients in 2013 was a signing frame.

Some of the comments by guests written on the mount are sure to create talking points and laughter in the future.

Great fun, slightly different and great to look at. Here's one where the comments were suitable for a family blog!

Emails to your future child

I read somewhere the other day about someone who had a wonderful idea.  For the life of me I can't remember where I saw it.  If I remember I'll post the link.

The idea is simple but needs a little dedication.

Instagram your wedding!

So it's 2014 already!  I remember the stir that went round my workplace in my first ever job (back in the '80s sadly!) when a workman turned up with a mobile 'phone.  It was the size and colour of a Tonka toy - now they are fully featured mini computers.
